Training on managing building inventory data

From June 25-27, 2012 a training course on building inventory data management using free and open-source geographic information systems (FOSS GIS) was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The workshop was hosted by the International University of Innovation Technologies (IntUIT). A follow-up training on building inventory data acquisition and analysis using FOSS GIS, remote sensing and omnidirectional imaging has been organized for IntUIT staff from September 18-21, 2012. Key points of the training included introduction to principles of geospatial data input, management, analysis and presentation using the free and open-source QuantumGIS/GRASS software, GPS data acquisition and offline analysis of satellite and omnidirectional images in the context of building inventory characterization and structural vulnerability assessment.
